Next, pressurize the fuel system, turn key off and crimp supply hose off, watch pressure. If pressure falls off quickly, remove clamp, pressurize, shut key off, clamp return line. If pressure falls quickly with supply crimped, presumption is that injectors or pressure regulator are leaking.
The way I checked was to take out rear mat, undo the plate, undo the two fuel pipes, careful to replace them the correct way round again, one is in and one is out. Then took a screw driver and hammer to the big round cap that holds the top on. Take out the fuel pump and poor the expensive stuff back in the tank.

Discovery 3 tdv6 Excessive Smoking. Hi Guys. I recently purchased my Discovery 3 and previously injectors were renewed. Now the Vehicle smokes excessively on idle and theres abit diesel smell in the smoke. I did the decat and Egr blank off and the smoke has gotten worse now. 1) Stick a vacuum gauge in the front port. 2) Remove a spark plug and screw in a compression gauge. 3) Take the wire and connect a spark tester. 4) Unplug a Injector and stick on a noid light. 5) Have assistant crank while I watch and record results. Open Circuit fault code reading for cylinder one. Faults cleared and returned when misfiring again. Decided that based on the evidence above, it was most probably a faulty injector. expert help advised that "failing when warm" is a common way for TD5 injectors to go.
As the 'code' will need updating to compensate for the wear that has already occurred on it. Fuel through injectors should be 38-42degC. He doesn't endorse blanking EGR's, as it alters the air flow characteristics through the engine, and the ECU has to compensate away from OEM. They also aid the heating of the engine.
